"In our native tongue, 'Peshewesahekgun' means 'Lynx Cat,' a name reflecting a time when lynx were abundant in our area. We, the Ojibway people of Cat Lake, are nestled in the heart of northwest Ontario, residing at the watershed of five major rivers that flow away from our community, an area we call 'Atdahshequayquaykegwhong,' meaning 'where the rivers flow in opposite directions.' This unique geographic feature affords us the honor of accessing various river routes for travel, hunting, harvesting, and living off the land."
